Dry Flue Gas Desulfurization

Dry Scrubber Atomizer Vessel Hamon's Dry Flue Gas Desulfurization (DFGD) technology has demonstrated excellent performance since its development in the late 1970s providing desulfurization of low to medium sulfur fuels and minimum water consumption. SO2 removal efficiency requirements have advanced from under 70% to over 90% as fuel sulfur contents and regulatory pressures have risen.

The Dry Flue Gas Desulfurization process utilizes high reactivity lime as the primary reagent material and requires particulate collection equipment downstream of the spray dryer absorbers. Hamon fabric filters and electrostatic precipitators have been utilized to perform this function.

Dry Flue Gas Desulfurization Atomizer The Dry Flue Gas Desulfurization process also has the inherent ability to provide over 95% collection of acid gases such as HCl, SO3, HF and most trace metals along with integration of future mercury removal processes.

Hamon's Dry Flue Gas Desulfurization System Hamon's DFGD process provides reliable, flexible and highly cost effective flue gas desulfurization with integrated dust collection that produces a dry powder by-product consisting of flyash and calcium sulfite/sulfate (CaSO3/SO4) reaction products. Ideal for new and retrofit installations, the system is suitable from small industrial plants to large power generation facilities providing the following benefits and advantages:

  • Simple process ensures technical reliability and operating availability
  • On-line maintenance capability of key process components leads to compliance with performance requirements exceeding 99%
  • Quick and fully automatic adjustment to changing boiler operating conditions
  • Conventional carbon steel materials of construction and simple design provide optimal capital investment costs
  • Low water and energy consumption
  • Zero waste water stream discharged from the process
  • Stable waste by-product allowing conventional disposal procedures
